Tuck.com's review analyzed 867 verified customer experiences from 29 unique sources and concluded that it's Temperature Neutrality score is “Very Good.”
Purple makes great mattresses for those in need of cooling features at night. The Hyper-Elastic Polymer™ that all Purple mattresses are made with is a pressure-releasing material. This material is used in a grid formation, which plays a key role in the mattress's cooling capabilities. The open spaces created by the grid design allow heat to flow right through depending on how much pressure the mattress receives.
The fact that air is allowed to flow freely, prevents moisture trapping which in turn extends the life of the mattress, Not to mention, it provides a much more comfortable sleep for those who tend to run hot at night. Purple naturally sleeps much cooler than memory foam, so that is definitely something to keep in mind when looking at competitors such as Tempur-Pedic. Essentially, Purple is temperature neutral, so if you are normally a hot sleeper you will not have that issue with a Purple mattress.
Purple is a mattress made to sleep cool and designed by two brothers (Tony and Terry Pearce) who are both experienced engineers… both dealt with materials (such as aerospace materials and high-tech carbon fiber) prior to embarking on Purple.
The design acknowledges the problem that “most mattresses don’t breathe” and provides a solution: use materials with more airway.
In general, mattresses are totally solid with virtually no airways for heat to pass through.
Purple has ventilation embedded in its design, creating a mattress that is neither too hot nor too cold.
The “neither too hot nor too cold” is such an important idea for Purple that they use Goldilocks as a mascot and guide to story-telling, in order to make their point.
By creating a material that ventilates and placing it on top of the memory foam, Purple’s mattress becomes sleep cool.
Their material is trademarked and specially referred to as “Hyper-Elastic Polymer” and arranged in a 2’x1’grid formation.
It’s quite elaborate really.
